What is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm Ultra and Juvéderm Ultra Plus are fillers that contain Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance that is produced in the skin that binds easily to water. Once injected into the skin it attracts water to the soft tissue providing volume and fullness to the face. They fill the face by replacing lost volume and restoring youthful contours. This smooth’s the wrinkles and folds to produce a natural appearance. The difference between Juvéderm Ultra and Juvéderm Ultra Plus is the consistency. The Ultra is a softer filler, while the Ultra Plus is a thick and stiffening filler. Both products contain lidocaine to help reduce any discomfort or pain during and after the treatment. Juvéderm treatments provide immediate natural results after treatment.
Areas of Use
Juvéderm Ultra and Juvéderm Ultra Plus can be used on most areas of the face. The most common uses of the products are for the treatment of the nasolabial folds (the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of the mouth). The thickness of Juvéderm Ultra Plus allows it to treat deep wrinkles and lines adding volume and structure to the face. Whereas the Juvéderm Ultra is often used for lip augmentations, its soft consistency produces a plump natural lip.
Any treatment using Juvéderm Ultra or Juvéderm Ultra Plus is minimally invasive and essentially has no down time. Some patients may experience some swelling at the injection site and very minor bruising; this may last 7 to 10 days.
Duration of the Effect
The results of a Juvéderm Ultra or Juvéderm Ultra Plus treatment may last anywhere from 6-9 months. However results may vary depending on the injection site and the patients skin type. The product can last up to 2 years if the treatments are done in sessions.
