Aging is a process that affects every part of the body. At some point, it is the cosmetic consequences like lines, wrinkles, and sagging that get our attention. It used to be that the signs of aging either continue to progress, or that they were minimized through a plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift or neck lift. Today, many of our patients are taking action against aging without setting foot into an operating room.
Neuromodulators
You probably know of this treatment as Botox. This is the most common anti-aging, wrinkle reducing treatment around the world, and for good reason. Botox, along with its successors, Dysport and Xeomin, rejuvenates facial skin by treating the underlying muscles, which have become constantly tensed as a result of overuse. Any one of these solutions is an excellent choice if you want to minimize the appearance of crow’s feet, frown lines, worry lines, and other age related cosmetic concerns.
Fillers
Lines and wrinkles do not always develop because the muscles beneath the skin have become tense. On the lower parts of the face, the primary problem is that subcutaneous tissue has become depleted over the years. This is because the body slows down its production of collagen as it ages. Additionally, vital chemicals like elastin and hyaluronic acid also decrease. Many of the dermal fillers that are popular today are based on hyaluronic acid, which attracts thousands of times more water than the weight of each tiny molecule of filler. When injected beneath the skin, fillers can soften lines and restore plumpness to the cheeks, lips, and angles to the Jaw line.
Collagen Therapy
Because the cosmetic consequences of aging are largely related to a significant drop in collagen stores, it makes sense to work with the body’s inherent ability to produce this substance. This can be done in a number of ways. One of them is to inject a filler product such as Sculptra into areas that have become flattened and hollow. While this product immediately plumps the skin, it also encourages the body to grow new collagen over several month’s time. Collagen stimulation can also be encouraged with comfortable radiofrequency treatment. Patients who have been treated with our ThermiSmooth noninvasive procedure love the progressive results that occur as collagen fibers are rebuilt.
