Shashi Kusuma, M.D.
Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon Fort Lauderdale and Miami
From a very early age, Dr. Kusuma was interested in the human form and function. This interest combined with his love of art and medicine led him to pursue his undergraduate studies at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. There, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in biology. In addition to his biology degree, he also attended the Gouizetta School of Business at Emory University where he earned a Bachelors of Business Administration (B.B.A) with honors.
After completion of his undergraduate studies he matriculated at the Medical college of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. There he excelled in medicine and graduated with an M.D. degree at the top of his class with the prestigious AOA honor society. He then completed two years in General Surgery, including his internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He subsequently completed Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the same institution.
He was board certified in the field in 2005 by the American Board of Otolaryngology, an accredited board by the ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties). He then pursued additional training for two years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his plastic and reconstructive training in 2006.
He was board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, an accredited board by ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) in 2007. He served as a Staff Surgeon in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for the subsequent 4 years. Currently, he continually strives to establish a center of plastic surgery excellence in South Florida.
Nirmal Nathan, M.D.
Nirmal Nathan was born in New Jersey and raised in Florida. The work of his father, who served as a facial plastic surgeon in the U.S. military, was the original inspiration for Dr. Nathan’s endeavours.
As a high school senior, Dr. Nathan was accepted to the prestigious and highly competitive Honors Program in Medicine at the University of Miami. The program identifies high-aptitude students, granting them simultaneous admission to the Undergraduate School and the School of Medicine from high school. While at the University of Miami, Dr. Nathan double majored in Biology and English Literature. In three years, he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with Honors.
Subsequently, Dr. Nathan matriculated to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He continued to excel and was admitted to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, which recognizes the nation’s top medical students.
Dr. Nathan then obtained his surgical and specialty training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He trained at the internationally renowned University of California-San Francisco (UCSF), ranked a top 10 hospital in the country per U.S. News and World Report (2015-2016). At UCSF, Dr. Nathan served as Chief Resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
After rigorous and well rounded training, he pursued fellowship training in Craniofacial surgery. In addition to treating children with various acquired and congenital deformities, Dr. Nathan received specialized training in adult facial cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Nathan is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications on the subjects of aesthetic and facial surgery. He has spoken at both national and international meetings.
