Brow Lift/Forehead Lift
What is Brow and forehead lift?
As we age, gravity affects our brow and forehead, causing the skin to descend and begin sagging. A brow lift and forehead lift is a surgical procedure that will reform the brow shape, correct falling or low-set brows, and reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. Different incision techniques may be used during this procedure, such as: endoscopic incision (small holes behind the hairline), coronal opening (long incision behind the hair line), or a lateral brow lift (incision behind the hairline). Other facial rejuvenation treatments are often used in conjunction with the brow and forehead lift to help enhance the overall results. To minimize any discomfort during the procedure patients will undergo a twilight anesthesia, which is an IV sedation anesthesia in addition to a local anesthetic. This surgical procedure may take anywhere between 1 to 3 hours to complete. However a brow and forehead lift does not include the correction of the lower face and neck.
Areas of Use
A brow and forehead lift is performed to correct the sagging of the eyebrows and deep lines and wrinkles of the forehead. This procedure is designed to minimize the signs of aging, producing a healthy, youthful appearance.
Expected Recovery
After a brow lift and forehead lift, it will take 7 to 10 days before a patient may return to their regular daily activities. In some cases it may take up to 6 weeks before a patient can return to strenuous activity, such as running or lifting weights. Patients may experience some swelling, bruising, and a moderate amount of pain during the healing process. This pain will be controlled with oral medications. The stitches typically used dissolve within a week and do not require removal. Stitches that do require removal are usually done so 5 days after the surgery.
Duration of Effect
The results of a brow and forehead lift procedure may last anywhere from 10 to 15 years. However results may vary depending on the patient’s skin type.
